Long overdue, the present collaboration represents a new sound for His Master's Voice and clear entry point for Monsoon. Here we find a neurogenetic mind-meld wherein a connection between the arid landscape of desert rock and the submarine sounds of surf music is made. The apex of Spaghetti Western cinema scores remakes this dipole into a triangle, where both music forms can draw a line from its compositional style. One hears echos of fuzz and blown speaker cones in the melodies of Once Upon a Time in the West just the same as one hears the wailing of a old Mosrite guitar. As this mutual reference point recedes in time, it sweetens in our ears and reddens in our eyes. Nostalgia isn't really our thing, but tradition is tradition. Now hear this!
